Celebrating Murni

gathers artists and creatives to create works

in response to the legacy of late Balinese artist,

I GAK Murniasih

Murni is considered as one of the most important female artists in Balinese Art. The ideas that she presents in her work, extends beyond her brief life and remains critical to contemporary society. This project aims to platform creative discussions on the issues surrounding Murni’s legacy in the topics of gender, society and art, in collaboration with a community of local and international artists.

A group exhibition featuring the works of I GAK Murniasih and participating artists was exhibited in Sudakara Art Space in Sanur-Bali, from 16th July – 18 September 2016. The project has invited 15 other artists from Bali as well as various other countries to be in conversation with Murni’s life and her works. These artists include: Citra Sasmita (Idn), Dewa Putu Mokoh (Idn), Edmondo Zanolini (Ita), Imhathai Suwatthanasilp (Tha), Made Bayak Ft.
