Wawi’s approach to photography is as an author of a visual language rather than a documentarian. Starting with the notion of play and tropicality hand-in-hand where plants and nature exist for her during her residency with Ketemu Project Space, she then “met Murni” through fabric. Having “approached colour sparingly”, Wawi got inspired by Murni’s colourful paintings and created appropriations/interpretations of Murnis’ artworks, tableaus, and explorations, still with the notion of “playfulness.”
