Schizofriends Art Movement is a program that was designed to build up the art instinct and facilitate the expression needs for our ODS (people with schizophrenia) friends. The artworks are their bridge to be appreciated so then they could be involved in the society.

Together with a visual artist from Singapore, Mary Bernadette, we held a workshop “Make Your Own Tools”. We aimed to explore unique scribbles that would not be found by using common brushes. Mary wanted to introduce art to the communities that focus on Self, Identity, and Home.

ODS, the Rumah Berdaya members, created their own brushes by using materials that could be easily found around them. Different brush creates a different pattern, depending on the materials. After finish, they were taught on how to bind their artworks into a book, using Japanese Binding technique.
